The seminar was held from 12:00pm to 1:30pm at the MBA CLE Room in the Montgomery Bar Association, and those interested in attending the seminar arrived fifteen minutes prior for registration. Same-Sex Marriage Now Legal and Recognized in Pennsylvania

Prior to May 20th, 2014, the laws in Pennsylvania regarding same-sex marriages were as follows: 1) same sex couples could not wed under 23 Pa. C.S. §1102; and 2) legal marriages between same sex couples that occurred in another state were not recognized under 23 P.a. C.S. §1704. However, on May 20th, 2014, these Marriage Laws were found to violate both the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution in the case of Whitewood v. Wolf. Consequently, Judge John Jones III of the Unites States District Court issued an order permanently enjoining the enforcement of the aforementioned Marriage Laws. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett announced that he will not appeal Judge Jones’ decision. This makes Pennsylvania the 19th state to legally recognize same-sex marriage. Paula Borradaile, Volunteers as a Member of the Board of the Daemion Counseling Center

Family Lawyer Lindsay Hanifan, Presented “Support Case Law Updates” at PA Bar Association Meeting

King of Prussia, Pennsylvania–Vetrano|Vetrano & Feinman LLC family lawyer Ms. Lindsay Hanifan recently participated in a panel at the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section Winter Meeting in Philadelphia, PA. The divorce lawyer presented her findings on “Support Case Law Updates”, discussing the latest developments in support law brought to light by 3 recent cases. Ms. Hanifan was part of a panel of six 6 people, broken down into 3 three groups of 2 two each. Each of the groups paired up a junior lawyer with an experienced lawyer to ensure a comprehensive view of each of the cases discussed at the Family Law meeting.
