Main Line Family Lawyers Speak at Pennsylvania Bar Institute Family Law Institute 2024

King of Prussia – April 24, 2024 – Family Lawyers Sarinia M. Feinman and Lindsay H. Childs, partners at Philadelphia-area law firm Vetrano | Vetrano & Feinman, recently spoke at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s (PBI) Family Law Institute 2024.

The Family Law Institute was a comprehensive two-day virtual program that featured excellent qualified professionals gathered to explore current topics and trends in family law. The first day showcased a series of dynamic plenary sessions, including case law updates from the past year, while the second day offered a customizable experience with two distinct tracks of sessions. Participants were able to earn up to nine substantive credits.

Sarinia M. Feinman, Esq. spoke on April 17 on the topic, “Representing the Incapacitated or Deceased Client.” The program explored the nuances practitioners encounter when representing clients who are in some way unavailable. Presenters advised on procedures for achieving equitable distribution and divorce when the client is completely incapacitated and/or dead, and whether such matters proceed in Family Court or Orphan’s Court. The speakers also discussed how to proceed when practitioners represent a client in divorce who is incapacitated on a limited basis and in the divorce case only, as well as the use of a Guardian Ad Litem to achieve equitable distribution in the divorce, and bring the matter to a close.

This program was a follow-up to a workshop in July of 2023 on the same topic with Ms. Feinman at the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Family Law Section Summer Meeting.

Lindsay H. Childs, Esq. spoke at the April 18th session in a program called “Modern ADR Techniques and Strategies,” which focused on best practices in alternative dispute resolution for family law professionals involved with parenting coordinators, arbitrators, mediators, and other collaborative professionals. The panel discussed various methods to help attorneys keep their cases out of the courtroom while obtaining favorable outcomes for their clients. Ms. Childs also spoke in July at the PBA FLS Summer Meeting on a similar topic, “Mediation, Arbitration, and Collaborative Best Practices.
